Strong-Cuevas with her work

Strong-Cuevas's work explores inner consciousness, outer space and communication through space and time. Born in Paris, Strong-Cuevas lived and worked in New York from the 1960s until her death in 2023. She studied under John Hovannes at the Art Students League of New York and worked on projects with Toto Meylan. Her work has been exhibited in dozens of solo and group exhibitions and is represented in the collections of the Bruce Museum, Heckscher Museum, Guild Hall Museum, Grounds for Sculpture and the Smithsonian-affiliated Long Island Museum. Two books have been published by Abrams on the work of Strong-CuevasStrong-Cuevas Drawings: Ideas on Paper (2018) and Strong-Cuevas Sculpture: Premonitions in Retrospect (2015). A third book, Strong-Cuevas Heads, was released in 2020 and documents the process of creating the artist's large-scale sculpture series, Heads I-V.
