Derquí creates large-scale patterns of expansion and contraction on canvas. As art critic Carlos von Schmidt described it, "Through the creation of a pattern, Derquí eliminates any subjective interpretation and forces us to face the image, without preconceived ideas. She establishes relationships between conception and perception, area and volume, space and image."
Derquí counts among her influences Ad Reinhardt, Frank Stella, Sol Lewitt, Donald Judd, Robert Smithson, and Malevich.
She lives and works in Buenos Aires and has exhibited in the United States, Europe, and South America. For more information about the artists click here
